Pros

- Very relaxed office environment where you can wear basically anything you want to work (shorts, old t-shirts, hats, gym clothes, no shoes, sandals, anything goes really). - No real pressure to perform at work so a regular 9-5 is accepted. - Very quiet office so if you want to come into work and not socialize, put on headphones and do your coding/software development no one will bug you. Many developers like this environment. -

Cons

- Very poor office environment (cramped, unorganized, hot in summer and freezing in winter, people sharing desks, old monitors/computers, etc.) -No corporate culture. Many days the the office is silent because all people do is sit in front of their computer screens and do not collaborate. - Seems like management is chasing the big deals and big partnerships while forgetting the regular employees. Have not been treated as a part of the team but as just a replaceable developer. - Very few/no opportunities for advancement. - Poor managerial style, which is seems to be set in their decision making ways and the organization moves forward 'like we always have' even though people put forth new ideas. This leads to being terribly late for product releases (6+ months or longer) and if we do launch a product, it is usually a fraction of what was talked about at the beginning. - Benefits have slightly improved recently but in a employee survey salary was an issue as well and management did nothing about it. Overall salaries are under industry averages with no company perks, bonuses or incentives. This is probably a reason why the regular 9-5 is accepted because no one wants to work extra hard for a project because there is no incentive to do so. - Arrogant management team who have forgotten about the regular employee.

Pros

I work in development (been here a while). I had to write a coding/problem solving test (as described by others here, although it has just been changed thanks to these postings (which I came here to see)). People say the test is tough, and it is -- because it works really well as a filter. Don't apply here if you are mediocre -- you won't even earn an interview with the team. Benefits are okay, and are supposed to be improved in January. Casual dress code Compensation is fair to the market. Fantastic work-life balance: people are free to work at home when necessary as long as they remain connected and responsive to the team's needs. The entire company is highly collaborative. People are very helpful within and between departments. Aimetis is doing very well lately: winning big deals away from bigger competition. On Deloitte's fastest 50 growing companies in Canada.

Cons

Office is very cramped, but a second office is being opened in a month, so that will solve it. Bonuses haven't been paid in a couple of years, but I think that will change this year.

Pros

I worked for about 3 years at Aimetis, not based at the HQ office. Great time reporting to people of Canada, very easygoing, honest. Also the remuneration is good. We had the autonomy needed and the technical support when needed.

Cons

After the acquisition we saw considerable changes, specially at the management level, so I saw nice people leaving on account of that. It was a big change and honestly I considered to a lower focus on people and more to financial results, so reducing costs. In addition I believe that for a software company, the releases and new features should be launch more often. And for a end user experience, I would improve the interface - we had a great improvement after changing the version, but it took about 2 year to get stabilized.
