-Management and upper management directly conflict in their direction - The culture is that the upper manager is the boogey-man, and while he may have been in the past (and may still be), you'd have no idea because you are so insulated and must work through the manager to get the upper manager's approval or share ideas -- Except for the occasional meeting with the upper manager, but that is a cable-guy-style, may meet within a 2 hour window, may not, every other week -Decisions take too long, and can be reversed after you've already started work (or even finished the task and there's no going back) -Management has favorites and fosters a clique based environment; does not advocate for staff -Management and upper management don't let you do your job or trust you to do research and know what you're doing; they must approve everything, including simple letters/emails to clients -Was told that manager's reaction is to always say no, and he wants you to convince him otherwise - who wants to fight for every little thing? And if that's the tactic, but you don't know it, you're not going to get anywhere if you're the type to choose your battles -The style is micromanaging and CCing everyone so you feel defensive or thrown under the bus with every communication -Management has no interest in basic SOP for end-of-season analysis of marketing, sales, infrastructure; recaps; suggestions for improvement -Sales has unrealistic goals that have never been achieved; constantly told they are failures despite record-breaking new business -Management wasn't interested in suggestions that were made to give sales new products to sell and new tactics to sell; and likely didn't pass up to upper management for approval -Management plays gotcha with previous emails (so be careful what you write) instead of trying to understand a problem and solve it
