Pros

The company has had a ton of new leadership and while some may see this as a con I think it has been great for the growth of the company. Fresh eyes and new mindsets are really going to catapult AgencyBloc to another level.

Cons

It can be overwhelming to have so much new leadership but overall everyone is handling it well.

Pros

There were a handful of good people who were an absolute pleasure to work with. Wage is livable, but any sort of performance marketing or demand gen role is massively under-compensated by at least 10-20k compared to market value for similar/same roles out there. Even if a role here was six figures, your mental health is not worth it.

Cons

To be honest, I debated if leaving a review was even worth it for over two months, actually leaning towards "no, it's a waste of energy", but after recent events (see P.S.) I've hit a wall. Take this with a grain of salt, because there was some merit to working here in several of the relationships fostered, and lessons learned. Company overview/outlook: The company is struggling to meet loftier and loftier sales and M/SQL goals despite outpacing previous years by at least 3x YoY. These goals have a concerningly loose basis in reality and are set at the whim of the PE firm that actually runs the show, with few, if any additional resources provided to the teams that carry AB. You’ll essentially be at the mercy of finance nepo-babies and boomers who just discovered ChatGPT, cosplaying as subject matter experts. There is no true “autonomy to be awesome” here. You will do what they want, how they want it, now. Leadership here is largely more of a figurehead than anything and outside of one (maybe two of them?) they don’t seem to have the backbone or desire to contest this much, if at all. Any future performance marketing or demand gen roles will likely either A. be outsourced to partner marketing with large clients, B. be filled by AI tools, C. hired in far below market value, or D. sourced back to their sister company/marketing agency. If you happen to be hired as a growth marketer, you will always have that as a conflict of interest and alternative to your role so be aware, you’re replaceable (sorry Beyonce). There had been 2.5ish new products launched in under 6 months as well, but it seems that the appetite for speed/new features from the PE firm could be taking a toll on overall UX. AgencyBloc is a classic case of the SaaS company that bit off more than they could chew and are now reaping the fruits of that. If you’re on the growth team, you’ll be working with very talented individuals. However, there is BLATANT favoritism, so unless you’re one of the chosen few, buckle up (hint, regardless of how hard you work, you won’t be one of them - it’s just based on if they like you or not. Trust me I tried). You will consistently be talked down to, made to feel less/not enough/wrong, disregarded, and publicly lambasted in meetings regardless of your performance. Personally, I lost count of the instances this unprofessional behavior was directed toward myself and other team members. At times it was visibly noticeable that actions of certain leadership team members were causing distress to colleagues to the point of (almost) tears. It is not a healthy work environment. This was not addressed to HR since HR unsurprisingly seems to be in leadership’s pocket, and I held concern that addressing this would cost me my job out of a retaliatory snap decision made by the growth team leader should that information get back to them. It’s a personal hunch that they enjoy when employees feel somewhat apprehensive of them, and leadership by fear is not a leader at all. Final thoughts: I’m relieved to be marking “former employee” on this review - my role was dissolved without warning, and not due to any lack of performance. The termination meeting was underhanded. I arrived to what was supposed to be a weekly 1:1 catch-up/progress meeting to find HR on the call without them being added to the Google (at least they don’t use Teams) meeting, so the blindside was real. Don’t expect transparency, or any feedback to be genuinely taken into account. Your voice doesn’t matter here, and leadership will thank you for sharing, and continue to do whatever the firm wants. Kinda “well yeah, duh”, but still very disheartening considering how much they preach culture and encourage people to share their thoughts to “influence” the direction of the org. Should you work here, your efforts will never be good enough no matter how much/what you do, how much you improve, how much you care, or how much you earn for them (my record was around $6+mm ARR in 1.5 years). If you’re a new hire reading this, good luck! : ) P.S. - I had to get the courts involved after either the entity they work with, or the UIA claimed I was ineligible to receive benefits for receiving a small severance. Pathetic.
