Pros

Free coffee, got a couple complimentary RAM sticks

Cons

While there were more than a few not subtle warning signs that working for this company could be a bad experience, what unfolded over my short stint at this place was the biggest CF I have ever experienced in my life. My first day on the job was spent being mostly ignored by the person who would become my supervisor, and I would spend the majority of the next week working alone in an empty office. I was informed I would receive a work machine, but instead had to use my own nearly decade old dying hand-me-down laptop. It was clear that the job I was hired to do did not exist, my supervisor had little experience communicating expectations to a subordinate, and also seemed to resent being placed in a managerial position. I asked about defining project deadlines at the end of my second week, and was told not to worry about them. I honestly believe these people either had no idea about what to do with me, or had no work for me. I had only one task that resembled what I was told my scope would be, but was actively discouraged from working on it. Instead, my supervisor said I would be doing “data sciencey stuff” later. Why hire a “GIS Data Scientist” if you apparently want something else entirely? My last two weeks were spent performing tasks which fell under a development practice I stated having no experience with in my second interview using tools that either do not exist in or are rarely used within the industry I work in. I had two interviews with this company before I began working here, both lasting around one hour long, and seemingly no one was able to clearly articulate what the duties of this position would actually entail. My advice to anyone considering working here would be to read the risk factors section of the publicly available SEC filing, to take into account the general mood conveyed in reviews posted elsewhere, and think about how much risk you’re personally willing to tolerate working for a company that treats their customers, investors and employees with contempt. If you categorize yourself as any sort of geospatial professional, don’t come anywhere near this place.

Pros

Literally only saving grace of this company is that they allowed remote work and the paychecks cleared.

Cons

I can't write more than a few sentences without getting upset. This company has had the sketchiest past. It's only interested in playing the stock price. Management is out of touch and clueless about the technology they bought. They laid off all the good workers and demanded the rest pick up the slack. When things don't get delivered on time as a result, more people get fired. All while the stock has plummeted by 87% since I was awarded stock when they purchased our company. Then they do a reverse stock split to appear solvent. Terrible management, terrible leadership, terrible everything. More people quit this company in frustration than they laid off. Unless you're getting hired at the boys club of the C-Suite and in on the scam, don't bother working here.
