Pros
Potential to gain good experience, especially in the field.
Cons
The promise of meaningful work in this organization often mask working conditions characterised by insecurity, precarity, low pay, unpredictable contracts, long hours, limited access to social protection, denial of rights to unionise, exposure to microaggression, and lack of corporate accountability. Those who are most senior, eat most of the budget and benefits, and the rest (especially consultant) takes literally the crumbs they left. Working there for many years and had no mentorship or support to grow, no professional development, and no recognition. It is a dead-end work environment for many and very insecure. I have also had situations where I faced microaggression or unfair treatment or even what could escalate to violence, without any support or accountability.
