Pros
A great place to start up your career as an engineer because of the immediate hands-on approach and the sheer intensity of operations. Three years working experience at Addax as an engineer is equivalent to four to five years in other companies. Good diversity. That's about it.
Cons
The problems are numerous. A lack of adequate planning by the management leads to fire brigade approach to work programs, a complete lack of appreciation of the contributions of the technical people has led to a high turnover, lack of a merit-based appraisal/promotion system that has led to promotion based on favour, stagnation at one position for years with no prospect of rising, no defined job descriptions, inability to attract and retain talent, non-commitment to knowledge acquisition, sharing and cascading, double standards and intense politics.
