      Pros

      majority are friendly coworkers company tried to create more positive company culture, the effort was noticed and appreciated

      Cons

      inconsistent and poor leadership at the management level which leads to a very toxic and hostile work environment. The negative experience experienced while working at Acumen has taught me all about office politics and how to properly and maturely navigate this when I come across it at other companies. People seemed to become managers of people because they stayed at the company long enough, when instead should just be individual contributors and have no business managing people.

      Sometimes being a star employee is enough. At other times, there is mutual agreement that that a star employee has earned an opportunity to test themselves at the next level, including potential management. There is always a learning curve, but that should not dissuade us from providing opportunities for growth. No, it does not work out all the time, but it is usually worth the effort. HR is always available to listen when the process breaks down, and will help facilitate improvements and necessary changes.

      - The work is intellectually engaging and gave me many chances to grow technically. - I learned a lot from talented coworkers and appreciated being part of projects with real-world relevance. - There was also good exposure to translating technical work into clear, usable takeaways.

      - The work can be intense and detail-heavy, and deadlines can sometimes feel demanding. - Priorities may shift quickly, which can make it hard to plan ahead. - At times, the volume of revisions and fast pace can be stressful.
