Cons
All the negative reviews you may encounter about this company are indeed accurate. Do not place your trust in positive reviews, as current employees are often coerced into posting favorable feedback to improve the company's reputation. If you decide to join Auto1, anticipate the following: - Your supervisor is unlikely to have a clear understanding of your responsibilities, leaving you without guidance or the necessary expertise to support your work. You will often find yourself working in isolation. - Feedback sessions are deceptive, and your performance may intentionally be downgraded to prevent you from receiving a promotion. The company's financial difficulties, evident in its stock price history and layoffs, contribute to this practice. - Employees may be let go without any prior communication, leaving them to suddenly disappear from communication channels like slack, google etc. - If your salary exceeds that of your colleagues, you could become a target for layoffs. - Some top managers in the product department are known to plagiarize best practices from sources like ChatGPT and post it on LinkedIn due to their lack of expertise (and many people know about it). Promotion based on personal connections, rather than merit, is common, and some leaders constantly display unprofessional behavior in meetings which pushes people to quit. - The company frequently changes its priorities (every week), and projects are assigned by top management without accurate estimations or input from the teams involved. Disagreements may lead to public humiliation, as disrespect is commonplace in communication with top management. - Although you can offer suggestions for improvement, your feedback will be always disregarded. - The company lacks shared OKRs and goals, resulting in misalignment between teams and delayed project completion due to inter-team dependencies. You will face postponed ETAs because you simply are not able to complete your project without help from another team that is busy with their own things and your dependencies are simply not a priority for them. - Many experienced professionals have left the company, often without hindrance, and have been replaced with individuals whose qualifications are not thoroughly vetted. Domain knowledge is leaving the company, and there is minimal support for new hires. - Fresh employees who are slow with their tasks may face public humiliation. - When interviewing with other companies, you may sense the impact of Auto1's reputation. You might hear questions such as "What's the current situation at Auto1? We've received numerous applications from Auto1 employees, and they all seem to be leaving abruptly." In summary, my tenure at this company was the most negative experience of my career. I strongly advise against joining.
