First and foremost, to be transparent I want to say every job is a job until you make it into a career. Then a career turns into your daily life and I’m happy I made the decision to come to Atlas mechanical for a career. Work place break down. On the field, as long as you show up to and perform your duties, you would have no problem with your foreman and your coworkers. So much diversity with all type of great people to work with and learn from. My main concern of coming into this type of work or this company was just having a “busy” season then it slowing down and being laid off due to not having enough work. But with atlas it seems they always have jobs to do so that’s a plus! Working here, they are all types of people, funny, smart hard working and lazy and more. From my time being here it seems a lot of people that get “laid off “ or let go are the lazy ones. The ones that don’t have the correct work ethic to succeed in the field let alone making life decisions. I have been with atlas for about 6 months and with time I’m learning and growing with this company. Work is local and they also have outside of city or state work if you prefer. Upper management is great and understanding. Most places would be intimating but here, if you stop by the office , the ceo himself greets you warmly . Their HR office is great as well, really professional and understanding within the limit of being honest . They will give you the tools and guidance to achieve a happy work environment. I read in a review that they are hard on you for calling in sick and taking time off. Well all jobs are delighted to a designated person and if that person isn’t there to do it . It slows the job down. Of course you would get reprehended. As far as benefits, they offer sick hours and benefits after you’re 90 days. They have great medical programs to enroll you in and a 401k plan. So overall how would I rate this company Pay= 4/5 (I’m always looking to advance) Job security=5/5 (come to work and they will keep you. All you have to do is show up) Management and foreman= 4/5 (everyone has there days but most of them are great as long as no bad eggs makes the whole batch goes bad) Human resource& front office = 4/5 you would never hear from them if you goto work and do great , oh and on time. This is how it is for me working here. Every other review just seems bitter and dishonest and I understand that. Choose a company that will give you a career that turns into a life style. Since it will be majority of your day. I did that with atlas mechanical
Cons
parking for jobsite other then that none really
Pros
Pay is comparable they offer 401K and life insurance Dental is cheap ($2 a week) only if you don't sign up for health insurance as well. Other department employees were very nice and welcoming. They allow you to go up to negative 40 hours for vacation time if you have not accrued enough. They do a lot of cross training which can be nice. Room to grow.
Cons
little to no training. There is a lot of unprofessional-ism between department heads and staff. There is no sick pay you have to use your vacation time. (this will change in July 2015 since the new law was implemented. You will get 3 days) Health insurance is really expensive. You will have to pay around $150-200 per month for a single person. Not really sure who was responsible for what tasks. They moved them around a lot, made for a confusing time and created hostility between co-workers. High turnover rate.
