Nice place to work - Photonic Design Engineer APIC Employee Review

Worked with PhotonIC, the commercial arm of APIC, for 2 years. The project I was assigned to was cutting-edge research, in collaboration with some of the brightest minds in the area of photonics.

Mostly government contracts, no real commercial products

Wrong team running the company, Very secretive on where the future of the company is going. This is a 1 brain company(CTO) and no other technical opinions are regarded much. Engineers are paralyzed because the are afraid of being yelled at from showing initiative. Morale is very low and military funding is almost dried out. More is expected if they meet their deadlines but those are always missed and postponed so no $$$ coming in.
