Got to do very interesting work that mattered. Was allowed to use expertise and make decisions without micromanagement. Quality efforts were rewarded.
Cons
No organized effort to establish career paths. Little access to professional development. As a government contractor, people were often let go without notice or serverance when contracts expired.
