Pay is mediocre for the expectations they have & the amount of work you must do in order to attain their goals without ever being approved overtime. Terrible work/life balance. Open to close shifts daily & only allowed Saturdays off if you request it off in advance & use your own PTO. The rules & how they want you to perform day to day tasks change based on which upper management person you ask & what mood they’re in & later they will forget what they told you or gaslight you into saying they didn’t say that. Office gossip is out of control. No actual HR like in a normal company since they are long time friends of the CEO & so nothing is discreet & retaliation is inevitable. Exposed to bed bugs, roaches, & mice & their poop. Risk of bringing them home since by your bags, purses, clothing. You have to cover your drinks that are in cans or a roach might crawl in. You could be hired for 1 job but end up being told to do the job of 5 with same pay when they are Short staffed. For example, if you are hired to collect on people & make calls to people who need to pay their bills but you all of a sudden get pulled to do deliveries for a week for the same pay because they need the extra person because the main one quit & then at the end of the week when your numbers of people who paid didn’t meet the goal you’re reprimanded. And if you say no to helping do deliveries then you’re not a team player & ostracized. CEO of the company has a fake success story but really good up middle class. Corporate employees are fake & act like they are holier than thou & give so much back to the community but it’s all for tax purposes & to maintain their image that they are so great but they’re mean, nasty people inside. Store managers are shoved up into stores before they are ready because the previous ones quit or you have ones that aren’t good leaders & don’t set good examples & act like children. Store managers talk about & gossip about one another & love to watch another’s downfall. Lots of favoritism in this job. If you don’t dedicate your life to the company & live, breathe, eat, think about them then they will burn you out or bully you out so you quit & don’t collect unemployment. They will intentionally make your job during the day miserable if they feel you are not keeping up with their fake work family culture so you can quit & they can keep your hard earned bonus. This place is toxic & will suck the life out of you if you let it. Lots of employee turnover. Unrealistic expectations. Not willing to change company ideals even though times around them are changing. Stuck in the 80’s still. All the corporate people are family or decades long friends so be prepared!!! CEO has been on the “downside of his time” “close to retirement” for 10 years now. So you have him & then 4 other people in charge making decisions & nobody communicates & it’s just poorly ran. I don’t imagine this company being open in another 5 years.
