Pros
Fun to work with smart people - faculty, staff and students will keep you on your toes. Pay is average, but benefits are good - employee health insurance premiums are paid for, and there is a pension plan (vested after 5 years service).
Cons
Some bureaucracy to deal with - some antiquated IT systems. No clear defined path for upward mobility.
