Cons
Warning! Do not work here unless you want to be exploited or want to sacrifice your mental and physical health. You will leave with a bad taste in your mouth and a leather bag full of empty promises. The executives at ABLE are inept and unprofessional. A 12 year old running a lemonade stand could make better business decisions. Do not trust any one in this company especially those at the top. The only thing this company is good at is selling the illusion of empowering women. They definitely don’t empower their employees. ABLE does not set their employees up for success. Gate keeping is part of the culture. From day one, you are set up to fail. You will not be given the necessary tools or proper training to do your job. Communication is horrible. This company has the WORST communication I have ever experienced in a workplace. Often emails and questions are left unanswered. Support is not given when it is warranted. When direction is given it is rarely clear and almost always very vague or confusing. Most information is passed along through the grapevine. Miscommunication is a huge issue and rumors run wild. Turnaround times and deadlines are unrealistic. Designing, sourcing materials, creating samples, training and producing in such a short turnaround time is stressful and leads to many employees working late nights off the clock in order to meet their deadlines. Many employees are overworked and stressed. Stressed to the point their health is being affected by it. Nepotism is weaved in to the culture at ABLE. It is clear that some employees get career paths and opportunities for higher pay and some employees get no guidance whatsoever. Certain employees have been compared to favored employees and made to feel inferior. Favored employees receive protection from reprimand even when committing termination worthy offenses multiple times. There is no pay structure and roles are not clearly defined. You will be made to start at minimum pay regardless of experience. Because of this some managers are paid less than the employees they manage. On top of being under paid, managers are overworked and unsupported. Managers are pushed to their limits causing some to have mental breakdowns. It seems like those at the very top get rewarded for their impact while others are made to feel as if their contribution does not make any impact and therefore do not deserve much compensation. I would never recommend ABLE to anyone. This company exploits its own employees. ABLE does not live by their mission to empower women and continues to make one poor choice after another. This was a dream job that turned into a nightmare.
