Pros

The dock workers and drivers are more than willing to teach you if you are willing to listen Pay is very good!

Cons

Don’t deny a move to another service center. If you get offers and deny too many times they will black ball you and you have to wait for a position to open at your service center

Pros

Pay is best in the business. $100,000+ first year as a road driver. Year two I made $107,000… and took two months off for cancer surgery. Year three I made $129,000. I average 2-3 nights per week in a hotel. Usually only 1 night out then back home the next day. Frequently running turns (home at end of the run). Insurance is free and EXCELLENT coverage. I paid $1,000 total out-of-pocket for cancer surgery.

Cons

Not much life/work balance. Frustrating spending time on the extra board waiting to get a call to go to work, but with more seniority you get less wait time.
