Pros
Mission-driven organization with incredibly bright colleagues. Folks are known for being friendly and collaborative. My work was highly visible and felt highly impactful, especially getting the chance to connect with peers in medical schools across the country.
Cons
My experience growing at this organization was through applying and successfully being hired to work on 3 different teams. I actually thought this was great to expand my skillsets, but some may prefer to stick with one team and grow within. That process seems very restricted and there is a perception that opportunities are limited and very competitive to be considered for organic promotion within large clusters. AAMC needs to more intentionally embrace project management frameworks to reduce ambiguity in roles, enhance and streamline processes, and improve their prioritization efforts.
