Pros
The Pay is okay but could be better
Cons
Pay could be better, and while training used to be strong, the overall experience really depends on your BCBA. Some people are lucky to have one who is attentive to the child’s needs and supportive of therapists, while others aren’t. Since behavior techs spend the most one on one time with the child, their observations are often crucial, and it makes a big difference when the BCBA listens and values that input, especially since they don’t supervise as often. Another concern is pay. If you’re at the AFF building working with your assigned child and another therapist doesn’t show up, you’re only given full pay for your child and half pay for covering the other. This feels unfair and when I shared this with people at other workplaces, they were shocked that such a policy even exists here.
