Pros

They hire relatively nice people for lower level positions.

Cons

Honestly, everything. Here's a small list: - Outdated practices - Your arrival and departure times are monitored, you basically clock in and clock out - You need to request permission to go outside for a few minutes for fresh air - You're watched as you walk away from your desk to go to the toilet so they can make sure that's where you're actually going - Major gas-lighting tactics from leadership/management - You're constantly reminded that you're "paid well", but at what cost? - Progression depends on how much leadership like you, not merit - I witnessed people who knew absolutely nothing get promoted to director level - the same people who used to come out of management meetings crying. Hands down the most toxic place I've ever worked. Genuinely, looking back at my time here, it feels like it was a cult, not a workplace. I wish I knew better and took them to tribunals. But, maybe that's what they bank on? In short - a horrible, toxic, cliquey, discriminatory, manipulative and belittling culture with no trust in staff. Advice: If you're going into your first office based / corporate role, I'd suggest staying as far away from this place as you possibly can. You will learn absolutely nothing of value. Any of the good experiences posted on here are likely from staff that are given preferential treatment from leadership and are comfortable in their roles. Plus, they've requested their staff to leave reviews for them. To 1st Formations: Please don't bother replying to this with your wishy washy generic response that I've seen you use on all other negative reviews.

Pros

Nothing significant to highlight here. Good and bad,

Cons

The company tried to look supportive on the surface, but once you were actually in the role, the cracks showed fast. The team was collaborative enough, but the expectations kept shifting and the “manageable workload” only stayed manageable because most of the tasks were the same repetitive admin work every day. I picked up some office skills and got pulled into different departments, but none of it led anywhere because there’s basically no real advancement in admin roles. And whenever priorities changed, which was often, the direction became vague, leaving everyone guessing what actually mattered. It was frustrating to feel stuck and constantly trying to make sense of unclear guidance.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet expectations, particularly around clarity of direction and progression opportunities. While we recognise that priorities can evolve in a growing business, we do not aim for colleagues to feel uncertain or unsupported in their roles. We also appreciate your comments on workload and development. While some administrative roles naturally involve routine tasks, we strive to provide broader learning opportunities and clearer progression pathways. We’re sorry this wasn’t reflected in your experience. At the same time, we aim to ensure expectations are communicated clearly and that changes in priorities are supported with appropriate guidance. Your feedback highlights that we need to continue strengthening consistency in these areas. We encourage open and constructive dialogue and provide a range of channels for colleagues to raise concerns, including confidential routes and direct access to HR. If you would be open to discussing your feedback further, please contact us at HR@1stformations.co.uk. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.
