Toxic Work Environment with Poor Leadership - Scientist 10x Genomics Employee Review

Fast-paced environment with regular product updates to keep things fresh and interesting. 10x does a great job hiring high-quality candidates, so we have very strong teams, including managers. It makes it relatively easy to support products when customers are excited to bring them into their labs.

No standout complaints, though there are relatively slow promotion rates.

Technology is interesting and seems to work.

There are a lot of people who are very arrogant and generally difficult to work with. There are a few specific people who seem to spend the whole day loudly putting people down and cussing out their coworkers. As long as they produce results, the bullying and swearing doesn't seem to affect the likelihood of promotion. Upper management allows people to shout in meeting. These seems to be the general attitude that if they are shouting at someone in support of their data, it makes it ok. I have never worked at a company where this is permitted. Contractors are treated like a line in a spreadsheet. It is useful to them if you are expendable.
