Pros

I really like my team here, and they are probably my biggest reason for staying (at least for now). I think Eden (now Eden Workplace) has some promising ideas, including its pivot toward becoming an SaaS company. But (as you'll see in my comments further down), I don't have much confidence in the future of this company if it continues to be led by its current c-suite (especially CEO and CTO).

Cons

As some have mentioned in previous reviews, there's a clique-y "bro" culture at Eden Workplace, set from those at the very top. I worry about talent going unseen, wasted, or misapplied in this environment, because of its culture and the values that this leadership team embodies. Which brings me to this: The c-suite is not very experienced in leadership, and it shows. I think they mistake charisma and the ability to give rousing speeches, for the actual hard work of listening to staff, supporting them to address problems at their root, and forming a cohesive strategic vision that can actually be implemented. I hear a lot of good talk, and sometimes that can be energizing in the moment, but over time it becomes demoralizing because execution and change management is so poor. Even when I look at some of their responses to Glassdoor reviews, it's disorienting because that image they're trying to cultivate publicly - of being organized and responsive and strategic - just isn't the reality of working day-to-day here. I also think the c-suite's messaging around a massive round of layoffs last year - primarily layoffs of employees from the company we had just acquired - was incredibly misleading / opaque and broke a lot of trust with the team. Whether you kept your job or not, you just couldn't trust the leadership anymore.

This post was written by a competitor who wishes our company harm. This individual was never employed by Eden or Eden Workplace. The claims in this post are untrue. For example, the author claims a lack of diversity (1 out of 5 stars). In fact, 59% of our team is female, including over half of our executive team. In terms of team composition, 55% are diverse/underrepresented groups. In terms of team happiness on culture, recent surveys indicate that 100% of Eden employees feel their manager cares about them and over 80% feel that Eden’s values aligned with their personal values (and no employees disagreed). I hope readers do not give this false posting any credence. We do not believe that someone who has never worked at Eden has any basis for commenting on our culture. It is unfortunate that this platform is being used in a malicious way. We have requested Glassdoor to take it down. - Maryn Juergens, VP of People and Growth

Pros

-Good PTO options (if you can find the time to take it, they work you to the bone and make you feel guilty for needing personal time) -Snacks -catered lunches (later learned this was just to keep you working at your desk while you eat instead of taking a lunch) -ATX had a pretty hard-working, wonderful team of support people when I was there, but since has gone to mostly temps -like-minded young people on the team

Cons

-Unhealthy work environment -Management lures you in by promising good time off, perks, ability to contribute to the growing company. The once you're in there, they work you like slaves and don't take any criticism/feedback. -Lying and dis-trust from management -massive firings without warning or communication about why -They put "yes people" in management positions because anyone that speaks their mind gets fired or ignored. Any issues big and small are not taken seriously. -Mental health is not taken seriously, they expect people to work through the pain because "that's just how start-ups are" -no training, everyone is expected to teach themselves the job quickly with no leadership or guidance. -then when people are fired, you are expected to pick up their work, again with no training or warning, You just have to do it and hope you do a good job. And if you don't there are no guidelines in place on how to handle the issue. -Oh, and there is never any pay raises when you take on new duties. You're just expected to do it and not complain. Even though you are already SLAMMED by your other job responsibilities. -No organization of the product/ people's jobs and responsibilities. Everyone is just guessing and hoping it all works out, and it often doesn't -Management personally wrote reviews on Yelp and Glassdoor because they are having a hard time finding happy employees and clients. -rude and abrasive San Fransisco staff that had no respect for the Austin team. Treated them terribly when we finally got to all meet. And on a daily basis, expected the ATX team to work at all hours of the day and to be available. Pawned all of their tasks on ATX

I'm really sorry that you had such a bad experience at Eden. Our Austin team is central to Eden's success and just as important as any other office. All of our Austin team are all full-time employees and we've grown to be 23 strong and counting. We have new managers in place and a lot of positive changes within the past year. If anyone reading this ever feels disrespected or feeling this terrible about working at Eden, please reach out to People Operations, myself or Joe our CEO. We will always take your feedback seriously. For the person who wrote this, thank you for taking the time to do so. And we truly wish you the best.

Pros

- You get to work with some really great people - You get to work with some really great companies (Clients and Vendors) - Free snacks and lunch - Dinner Stipend if you work past a certain time

Cons

- No work/life balance: You are worked 24/7. Expect to get pinged or texted at 2am, on your day off, at a doctor’s appointment, and even on vacation. Days aren’t just long, they are non-stop. This is not role specific, it was company-wide. - “Fires”: There is always a “fire” going on for very insignificant issues. If an office is running low on paper towels, the sky is falling and you better put everything aside to fix the “problem”. - Micromanagement: Your every action is questioned, and you need approval to do anything customer facing. Even your emails are heavily monitored. You don’t feel like you can make any judgement calls on your own, which is frustrating during time sensitive escalations. - Lack of Resources: The company had super aggressive growth/revenue goals, and a lack of resources to back them up. Teams were drowning because processes had not been ironed out, and the technology hadn’t been built to sustain such hyper-growth. -No Voice: You have no voice, and your opinions/concerns are not actually addressed. It’s all lip service. I was promised dozens of times that things would improve in areas I was concerned about, and not one thing changed. -Inexperienced Management: Many higher ups in the company are promoted because they all know each other and not because they have the required experience to do the job.

Thank you for sharing this constructive feedback. You're right that our good intentions were lacking execution and our success may have gotten a bit ahead of our processes. We are on the road now to not only shore things up but get ahead of the growth. Since you have been at Eden, we've taken a number of steps to help everyone's voice to be heard including instituting upward feedback surveys during performance reviews. That way, employees are able to provide anonymous feedback on their manager. Additionally, we've implemented a number of processes and procedures including technology updates based on direct suggestions of the team members. Our goal is to build the tools and the environment where employees can thrive and excel at their job. As I've mentioned in other responses, we are also actively hiring more seasoned leaders/managers to help provide a great foundation for the company. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
