Good benefit, you have your own office. Some co-workers are really smart and ambitious

Cons

IS department management is full of politics play with zero engineering mindset. They have no plan whatsoever, Everything seems shiny in the demo but broken fundamentally.

Pros

A strong operational engine, competitive compensation, and a workforce that has historically been very capable.

Cons

EOG was once a strong organization with capable leadership and a culture that rewarded performance and talent. During my earlier tenure, opportunities were based on merit, and there was a clear path for growth. Unfortunately, over time, leadership changes shifted the culture. Hiring and advancement decisions appeared to move away from merit based evaluation and toward subjective criteria. Performance reviews and HR processes became increasingly inconsistent, with unclear standards and limited accountability at higher levels of leadership. For those seeking a workplace built on fairness, transparent leadership, and long-term development, I would encourage careful consideration of the current culture before accepting a role. Accountability at the top is inconsistent, advancement isn’t clearly defined and hiring and performance management no longer appear strictly merit driven. Employees should understand that HR functions primarily as a risk-management arm of the company, not as an advocate for individual staff.

Pros

The benefits were excellent, including medical, dental, and vision coverage. When I was hired in 2010, PTO was determined by a combination of age and tenure. By the time I left in December 2016, I had accumulated about five weeks of vacation.

Cons

In 2017, upper management decided to close the Tyler, TX division, which had been operating for at least 17 years. I had planned to retire from EOG, but that decision changed everything. I was given the choice to relocate or be laid off. Because I could not afford the cost of moving, I was laid off, which had a significant negative impact on my life. It took me more than two years to find another job in the oil and gas industry in Tyler, TX.

Pros

half day Fridays, location of the corporate office

Cons

In the office 5 days a week, WFH is frowned upon for everyone other than management, management does not lead through example-they lead through fear and gossip, politics and favoritism
