Pros

Safety culture and core values for most...excluding some in management at Valley View.

Cons

Management protects incompetent managers....some are in position because of race, sex, other non job performance related ..... best qualified doesn't always get position.....Plant manager at Valley View came from plant where he was plant manager and 4 people were killed in accident under his watch....management moved him into another plant manager position....not consistent with zero tolerance for accident culture....Engineering manager had chemical background and was clueless about manufacturing had zero machining experience but was moved into manager of engineering. Lied to customers as to why parts were late and passed nonconforming parts to commercial and military aerospace customers....some good engineers but management is weak...merging with Dow chemical....more layoffs coming....I would look elsewhere.

Pros

DuPont hires very talented individuals, and encouraged shared learnings. Most weeks, work/life balance is great. Large company, so many varied opportunities--hard to get bored.

Cons

Pay is averaged out across level--DuPont does not utilize a Pay for Performance policy for the common worker. Management regularly misjudges market, sets over-ambitious targets, and frequently misses objectives. Creates a very negative environment, with occasional reductions in force (but the leaders who set unreasonable objectives are not let go, and often rewarded). Company doesn't really know what it wants to be--vision unclear. The emphasis on core values has slipped since Ellen took over--safety incidents on a rise, respect for people a figment of what it once was.

Pros

This company went through an acquisition while I was an intern. Formerlly Genencor (a Danisco Division). It was a great place to work, had a positive work environment. There was always ways to find out more information about how each department/team was doing. The employees were able to get to know each other through different company sponsored events such as grill outs, softball teams and CR Kernels baseball nights.

Cons

-As an intern in HR there wasn't any opportunities to stay with the company in Cedar Rapids after I graduated. If there had been I would still be there.
