Pros

Solid reputation in industry. Good core technologies, but they are beginning to lag. They are global and you will likely get to work with people from several continents over your career.

Cons

Health plan only looks good on paper; there are a lot of gaps in coverage. Frequent layoffs in the last year. The new CEO lacks his own vision. He is still following the previous CEO's lead.

Pros

A lot of great people work at Donaldson and most of them are very friendly, work hard, and perform their jobs well. However, a lot of great people have been let go - especially people 50 and older - and others have left in the last 2-3 years.

Cons

Current management doesn't care about the employees as is evidenced by laying off people with many years of experience and knowledge because they are earning too much money. Bad and/or inexperienced managers who don't know what they are doing are put in place or moved from one department to another, and good people are leaving as a result. The culture of the company has deteriorated since Bill Cook retired.

The people that work there are friendly, it's what's kept me working here. I have a large network of people because of my volunteering activities.

Cons

Bad managers get passed around to be bad managers to other groups, CEO's message is confusing (3 layoffs within the past year, yet, we are doing great?!!), pay is lower than comparable companies in the Twin Cities (they use a national average to state that they are 'comparable', whereas if they do a local average, they underpay by ~$10,000/year), you get more recognition for your volunteer opportunities than your actual work.
