Pros

To be very honest, I did not enjoy any part of working for Direct. I was able to hone my marketing and negotiating skills but thats about it.

Cons

Most of upper management has never worked in the insurance industry and it shows. They have no sense of what is going on in the market or about how to treat their customers or employees. The only focus is on getting customers and no regard to how to keep them. I sense the same goes for their employment practices.

Pros

Good people to work with. Decent PTO and health insurance.

Cons

Micro management. Not only do they micro manage you they expect you to micro manage yourself for them. UW can't answer questions properly. Management or trainers can't answer questions because they simply don't know the answer. Horrible comm structure. Waste of time and effort with weekly marketing requirements that are useless strategies for bringing in new business to rip them off. Horrible claims process. Good luck getting a raise.

Pros

Decent benefits and if you don't have any claims experience this is a place to start to at least get the basics and experience. If you need a job with little to know experience, this is a good start, but company has such a bad reputation good luck getting hired by any other company in the industry.

Cons

Overworked! I worked for this company for several years and never once had a work/life balance. I put in between 50-60 hrs per wk just to maintain a decent desk. Some coworkers are nice others are not so much. I found that most of the employees they hired came from standard companies but once they walked in the door they seemed to forget how to actually work. Internal employees would not answer internal or external calls. You could be seeing 3 rows over call the person and see they were talking to someone that was hanging at their desk and they would not answer the phone. There is no accountability there, employees don't hold themselves accountable for their job and neither does the management. New management has seem to have come in and taken over and made changes but still seems to be the same thing. Claims are not distributed evenly. Some reps end up with 2x the work i.e. 80 claims but are expected to meet the same stand of their peers with lesser claims i.e. 40. No work/life balance, over worked, and now have new rules and metrics that seem unattainable. Overall, bad place to work...so bad people have quit with no other jobs lined up. YOU HAVE SR LVL MGMT THAT HAVE QUIT, DIRECT MGRS AND TEAM LEADS QUIT and PRACTICALLY EVERY EMPLOYEE THERE LOOKING FOR A NEW JOB.
