Don't Work Here

Pros

A few people who are not there anymore.

Cons

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. People are not valued here. In the eyes of the CEO and upper management, you are disposable. Be prepared to work very long hours, maybe even weekends. The CEO is a horrible person. This is a very SHADY company. The CEO and his other cronies in management have run this company to the ground. It's almost like a Donald Trump situation, where there are certain leaders in place who make a huge mess, have no regard for rules, blame everyone else when their genius ideas don't fall through, have no accountability, and thinks that the solution is to fire everyone when it should actually be the other way around. If you work here your opinion will not matter, your job might change quickly, you will not be respected and you will have ZERO job security. This place is a revolving door and there's a reason they're always hiring. Also, a lot these positive reviews are fake...because like I said...they're a SHADY company. This used to be a fun place to work and had a great family atmosphere to it. It's a shame what they've done to the company and to its people who have worked so hard for them.

Diono Response

Thank you for sharing this review, it is great to see that you were part of the Diono team for between 1 and 2 years until January 2020. All reviews here follow all the Glassdoor policies, and the Company does not publish fake reviews. At Diono all senior leaders and HR have an open door policy and encourage feedback from all colleagues. We would have welcomed you sharing these views and your ideas for improving the situation, processes or our product range, with either your line manager, confidentially with HR or at one of the regular town hall meetings. During 2019 the company held many social events from Friendsgiving, Spirit week, Independence Day Grill, Holidays celebrations as well as other weekly activities. These were all very well attended and we received great feedback from all colleagues. We are hiring as we have grown the number of colleagues in our offices Sumner, as we will continue to do as the company continues it's exciting growth.

Mourning the Loss of a Good Employer

Pros

There are so many great people that work at Diono. They really are people of integrity and commitment. They want to function as a team and a family. Unfortunately there are a few key people in power that create a very toxic, divisive and chaotic environment. They do have good benefits, although they will make it impossible to use them.

Cons

The current leadership at this company is the worst I have ever seen. It is reactive, schizophrenic, micro-managing, chaotic, with an expectation for middle management and entry level employees to manage up, while not holding themselves or the Executive Team accountable for their failures and actions. One leader is down right abusive to the staff and clearly sees the employees as numbers and not as humans. There is and expectation that all employees should be flexible for but provides not flexibility to them. All opportunity to feel passion, inspiration and joy from working there has been removed and an environment similar to a prison has been created. As a result people work against each other instead of really functioning as a team. The HR department is one of the most unprofessional departments I have ever experienced. Confidential information is shared, speaks badly of others behind their backs, gossip, outright lies, providing inconsistent benefits to some but not for others (if you are deemed to be on the “right side”). HR will not hesitate to abuse their power to use against employees. The sad thing is who do you go to when to report a problem about HR?

Pros

The people even though not many are left.

Cons

I don’t work at Diono any more thank God and I have held off writing this for a while now because I didn’t really think it would help. But some things have happened over the last few days and I need to write this now. What is sparking this is the way the whole Canadian team was let go last week. I still talk with a few people at Diono and what has happened is just terrible. Without any warning the CEO let everyone go and closed the office. Some people had been there over 10 years!!! And just one day gone!! If you are reading this because you are considering a job at Diono, don’t. Just don’t. If your reading this and you still working there, you should get out NOW. There is no future for Diono as long as Tim Maule is in charge as the CEO. He is a dictator. He has no regards for anyone but himself. He has no respect for the employees and no class. The only good ideas are his ideas and he will not listen to ideas that are not his. He has made one terrible decision after another and takes no responsibility for HIS decisions. He only cares about getting as many products out the door as possible even if there not good products. The strollers are terrible. The only good thing is the Radian car seat and that seat was around long before he got there. He blames all of the companies failings on everyone else. Case in point, Canada. The Canadian office was always successful and made money for the company, at least while I was there. Two years ago Tim took over and demanded things in Canada change. Guess what?? HIS ideas didn’t work but he blamed it all on everyone else and LET THEM ALL GO. I worked at Diono with the previous leadership and for Tim’s dictatorship. There aren’t many pros to working at Diono. Except the people. There are some really great cool people at Diono. Or were some really great people. Unfortunately most of them have left, are leaving, or are trying to leave. Read that part again. Almost everyone who has worked there for more than a month IS TRYING TO LEAVE. The CEO runs the company like a labor camp. The beatings will stop when morale improves! His demands and expectations are so far from being realistic that there is no way to succeed. He does not lead and he does not take responsibility for the way the company is. He doesn’t inspire people to want to do the best they can, he’s like a playground bully. He berates and insults and disrespects people in the open. Just ask his assistant. Oh wait he doesn’t have one because THEY ALL QUIT. Tim is the worst person I have ever seen run a company, unless you mean run it into the ground. He’s definitely good at that! That’s what he does best! You can’t do your job because he micromanages everyone. He’s flooded the company with products that just sit in the warehouse because no one wants to buy them, or because there just not very good. And people can’t keep up with all the products so there’s no way to make a plan to sell them because there’s always another new product coming. People are always overwhelmed and there is zero communication about what’s happening. Things constantly change with no thinking about how that will affect the rest of the company, or the amount of work you’ve put into something. One day your working on something and the next day sorry we’re not doing that anymore even though you spent a month on that project. People get hired and then quit a few weeks or few months later. I never saw so many people come and go in such a short amount of time. It’s like don’t bother getting to know anyone because they probably won’t be there tomorrow. They slowly took benefits away and bonuses, and what little work culture there was is gone. Diono used to feel like a family, like we all working for the same thing, but that feeling has been gone ever since Tim took over. And the board of directors of the company that runs Diono apparently don’t know anything about what’s really going on. If they would just talk to the employees they’d know that nobody is happy there. Or if they would read this and all the other reviews maybe they’d figure it out that Tim is driving the company into the ground like a runaway train. People are the best thing a company has and Diono used to have some really talented people and it was a fun place to work. Pretty soon there won’t be anyone left. One last thing, if your considering a job at Diono and reading these reviews, a positive review written after 2017 is probably fake because when I was there they asked us to come on here and write a positive review. That should be all you need to know. Ha ha I just read the review called Progressive Company and that’s probably a fake review. The environment is awful, there is no opportunities for thinking unless you think Tim is a genious, growth by closing offices and there is no team spirit except if your team is trying to leave. Diono should be re named to DiOhHellNo!
