Pros

It was a pleasure working with the NZ team as part of the global Dilmah brand family for some 10 years. The story of what the founder Merrill J Fernando began is an inspiration, continued today by his sons. One of the most ethical and genuinely good businesses I've been part of, in a way that comes from genuine care for humanity and the planet. On a more practical note, I enjoyed the balance of broader brand direction from the global owners but with a good degree of autonomy to manage our local market for the brand.

Cons

No negatives in my experience.

Pros

If you know the owners family personally, there's a high chance your basic salary will be higher and you'll be treated better. If you don't know the owners family in person, good bless your stay here. Amen!

Cons

Colonial, traditional culture. Beauracratic leadership. When the chairman or a director is to take the elevator, rest of the employees have to take the stairs. Work is from 8.30am to 5pm and includes a strict 30 minutes lunch break from 1pm to 1.30pm. Employees are advised to stand up and greet when the chairman or a director enters their respective department.
