This Company Should Know By Now How Bad They Are

Pros

The most positive aspect of this “company” is the fact that management (I use that term very loosely) is letting you know exactly what you’re getting if you deal with Designing Benefits; pure unprofessionalism and childishness at its very best. Just read the fake positive reviews (all two of them) and you can clearly see the games being played here and where management focuses their real time and effort. Yes, they would rather stay on glassdoor than focus on its employees or clients.

Cons

Nothing at this place will ever change for the better. If you are looking for an ethical workplace, a collaborative, team environment where favoritism and low pay are not real factors, then look elsewhere to work or do business. For a company that offers benefit plans to clients, the benefits offered to its employees are pathetic to say the least. They cost a small fortune and the coverage is bad. You do not get adequate sick time or vacation to cover any real time off. And if you take sufficient time off you are not paid for it. Compared to market this place is probably within the 5th percentile compared to all other comparable sized businesses. Forget ever being able to save for retirement because this company falls very short in this area as well. You will do better getting an individual retirement account or better yet, go work for a real company with a real retirement plan and company match and save yourself the disappointment of this place. This place is only as good as the employees who service those clients and unfortunately for Designing Benefits all of those employees have left for bigger and better opportunities. Good, ethical workers run from this place. And trust, many have run.

Pros

Flexible hours - when I need to take care of my children accommodations to my schedule are happily worked out. Family atmosphere, Quiet working conditions. Challenging and varied challenges working with different clients around the bay area. The company has consistently grown year over year for more than 10 years.

Cons

Not a place for those who want to coast. It is a small vibrant company and is fast moving where employees need to depend on each other. A child of the CEO works here, so it is easy to imagine favoritism. If you are inclined to look for offense, this is not a good place for you.

Pros

I have worked with Designing Benefits for about three years. Very knowledgeable management and owner. Very flexible with us in terms of time off, schedules, and requests. They have an in house yoga class once a week as part of their benefits! The culture is friendly and respectful, but the expectation is also to work hard. This is a fun team to work with. A healthy environment for those of us trying to balance work and health. Employee wellness program with challenges and games for us to participate in. Nice office space. Overall great place to be.

Cons

Because it's a small company, any turn over in staff requires flexibility on our part to pick up the slack and also help any new colleagues that join our team.
