One of the 3 founders (I don't want to point out to protect privacy) told me that the initial minimum wage salary was just to test me out, and that if I achieve this and that he would give me a pay raise. I agreed, worked hard and completed the challenges. Yet, when I asked for a raise, he completely "forgot" what he had verbally promised, asking why I deserve a raise. He went on saying that I should be grateful that they were training me for the job (in my first few weeks). That no school is teaching for free, that I should be happy that they not only trained me but paid me minimum wage salary. I was angered hearing that not only because he did not keep the promise, but also because he considered giving me this job with this pay as doing me a mercy.
He also mentioned that I should be grateful (even with that salary) because this company could become as big as Google. I find this really arrogant and did not justify how he treated me. Google do not treat employees that way. Finally they gave me a very small raise which I had to accept cause I had no other questions.
Before I leave, I tried to copy some personal files and photos to my USB. Then, a senior manager just came behind me trying to look at my screen. I was surprised, but agreed as I did not hide anything. A minute later, another founder came to the room and forcefully pulled the laptop from me, along with my notebook. He then checked every single file on my USB and every page in my notebook, only to find nothing suspicious (of course). Only then did I understand that they suspected I tried to steal company information. I was surprised and angered, as I had never even had any of such intentions. Even if they had suspicions, pulling a company laptop of an employee in front of the whole team was just unnecessary aggressive and mean.
I attest every piece of information here is the truth. That is what I experienced.
