Pros

Stable job I guess. Nothing else to say.

Cons

You are just a number at Delphi. They don't care about you or your capabilities. They run you to the ground. They don't want their employees to be happy. Every day is the same I'm so happy I left. Managers also try to bully you.

Horrible place to work

Pros

Nice newly refurbished office, that’s about it.

Cons

The worst place I ever worked, there is no respect for staff, no support for talented individuals and contradicting objectives given by senior management make it difficult to prioritise your workload. Colleagues at the HR department swear and moan all the time, appearing to be busy but are in fact invisible for the rest of the business and are unhelpful. Redundancies happen left right and centre and company policies are ignored, so if your role is made redundant or you have a difficult time at work or outside of work, don’t even dream about having HR support or any consultations by your HR Partner, maybe a pay-off and your P45 if you are lucky. Bonuses are inconsistent and all over the place. There is no privacy, if you share something with your HR Partner in confidence, the whole HR department will be aware of your issues and you will be put on a list to be fired at some point in the near future. So just put your head down and work, and don’t ask questions as you might be viewed as an idiot.

Pros

Colleagues are friendly and helpful

Cons

Delphi's management structure, workplace environment and online systems are very poor and outdated. Instead of focusing on the foundations of the company or employee development / experience since the spin off, they are focused on cutting cost and expanding business. Administrative systems were last updated in the early 2000s and it is very manual. Only if a situation occurs or questions are raise, do the management look at the work structure or policies which are all outdated. Local Upper management and HR work for their own interest and their budget. Don't expect them to stand on your side or advice you if anything happen to you in the company or outside. Protect your self interest first because if there's a 'restructuring', you could be let go at any time with immediate effect. Working hours are 8AM to 5.33PM. Depending who is your manager, you are expected to come to work on time and to not leave on time. There is no flexible working hours. The management worked out the working hours to average 44 hours per week. That is the maximum number of hours per the MOM regulation and lunch break is 45 mins, which is the minimum number of time per the MOM regulation. There is 1 confirmed plant shutdown per year for Chinese New Year and employee 1 day annual leave will be deducted for that. If there are more plant shut down in the year, the employee's annual leave will be deducted for it. If the employee does not have enough annual leave, they will go on unpaid leave. Notice is usually given 3 weeks in advance maximum. To keep the business running during the plant shutdown, some employees will work during the plant shutdown and take the week off the week after. Your manager will tell you their arrangements, you won't have a say or they will be unhappy if you ask. If you are okay with the company dictating when you will take your annual leave (your entitlement for serving the company), great. Plant shutdown is usually for the whole week. The current office environment at ang mo kio is old, dirty and dreary. Office furniture is at least more than 10 years old. There's no cleaners around and your desk trashcan is emptied once a week and carpet if rarely vacuumed. Even if you wipe your desk once a week, the cloth is black and dusty. If you are okay with the occasional cockroach, great. Don't be deceived by the 1st floor, ask to see the floor where you might be working at because that will be a big factor in accepting the job. The local office and environment is nothing like a MNC even though it advertise itself as a MNC when recruiting. It run more like a small local plant. Employees interest and benefits are not a priority to the company. Any complaints or feedback to the CEO or the international management will go back to the local management to handle.
