Pros

Friendly management. Attracts interesting people which is good for your network. For 3 months you get minimum wage and discuss interesting ideas with smart folks. No strings attached.

Cons

DSV is a start-up which does not have its own fund. DSV builds naive startups to blow up its portfolio in order to raise more money (mostly from clueless Angel investors) for its own survival. Very little financial resources and infrastructure to build your tech and grow your venture. Management is nice but has little to no experience in biotech/deep tech and VC. Most startups formed in DSV die pretty soon the rest are zombies because they lack money and resources to survive for more than a year.

Pros

I've been working for Deep Science Ventures since October 2019 and had an overwhelmingly positive experience. From day 1 the expectations were set very high. The task, to develop and scrutinise radical technological solutions to some of the worlds biggest problems. The ideal outcome, to found multiple companies in the energy sector. An outcome that seemed almost impossible at the beginning but now looks achievable. So far, I've built two teams around two projects and secured £100k of investment for each project from the TechX accelerator programme. - Friendly and highly professional team - Honest and constructive feedback - Flexible - Access to a wide network of advisers, industrialists and investors - A platform to reach out and understand the entire commercial and technological space. - Resulting from this platform I've been amazed at the access I've had with senior staff at some of the most successful startups in the clean tech space. - Transformed my understanding of what is possible

Cons

Could be more out of work social activities.

Pros

• Fantastic team trying to help you build the next generation of science companies • Incredible network to draw upon to get you connected to whomever you need to support your business or idea • Detailed knowledge of start-ups, and how to kick-start them, and get funding at the pre-seed stage. • A completely different (and brilliant) way of thinking about science businesses. • They come at problems and company creation from a contrasting angle – which allows for fresh creativity. • No bullsh*t environment – excellent and incredibly valuable feedback on what you're creating, but it comes directly and truthfully (which can sometimes hurt the ego!) • No-where better in the world right now to start a science company from less than an idea. • Without DSV, I would have never started a science company that I believe can make a true global impact and I will always be grateful for the opportunity to work there.

Cons

• Somewhat intense at the beginning as a huge amount to learn very very quickly • Self-motivation and personal drive very important as there is a lot you have to work on yourself. • The no bullsh*t environment. If you need feedback in a delicate way – maybe it's not for you! • The completely different way of thinking can be hard to adjust to at the beginning as you get into a new mindsets and question everything (including yourself). But allows for fantastic personal and career growth in the long term. • Need a particular type of background (often science heavy alongside desire to create a company) for it to be the right fit for many people.
