Employment, some benefits, stable schedule.

They don't really care about you at all. Their bottom line is all they care about.

Pros

I am paid $19 per hour for clerical work. I have a 35 hour work week and work no weekends. I receive 13 paid Holidays (I received 2 days for Christmas this year even though Christmas was on a weekend!) I also get 10 days PTO that I can use for any reason. Health insurance cost me $5000 per year for my entire family. The county also invests 11% into a pension that I am vested after only 10 years. Between social security and my pension I will have a comfortable retirement. Another huge benefit is the fact that government never lays off due to a declining economy. My job is safe and that is worth a lot to me. I love my job and hope to retire here.

Cons

Start paying people according to their production instead of blanket raises. Lots of wasted time compared to the private business I worked for. Our office could easily get our work done with 30 percent less employees. Many employees spend their day on their cell phone which would not be tolerated where I worked before. The security at the courthouse is annoying.
