The two brothers who run/own the company don't care about their employees even a tiny bit. Their mother started the company, they inherited it, they've never worked anywhere else and as long as they can make the mortgage payments on their Calabasas mansions, they just don't care about developing the business or even giving their employees steady work. They have a big call center which, most days, sits empty, yet they refuse to do any marketing, even though they are (we hear) a respected mid-size market research company. As a consequence, people with bills to pay and families to feed go for weeks at a time without work. Needless to say, turnover is through the roof.
They also do not invest in resources. Computers are old and slow, stations dirty and damaged...and the chairs...Well, let's just say a lot of them look like they were bought used at office bankruptcy fire sales in the 80s. If you go to work here you better have a really, really good back. And a lot in savings, because you won't be working 40 hours a week no matter what they tell you.
More like 40 hours a month. If you can find something worse, take it.
