Pros

DCLS hires some great people. Unfortunately, the good ones, including myself, end up leaving due to poor management decisions. I loved working in the library setting, helping people to educate and entertain themselves. My coworkers went above and beyond for patrons. Our department was a close-knit group and I enjoyed coming to work each day.

Cons

Too many administrators making decisions without knowing what happens on the ground. Decisions from management usually meant changing a process that worked well for the employees and patrons and making it more complicated, frustrating everyone involved. Top-heavy management team makes exponentially more than actual librarians/PSAs. Job qualifications change according to whom management wants in the position. Eliminating full-time positions for long-time employees coming upon retirement. Nepotism is rampant.

Pros

Access to the materials, and no late fees. Information is readily available and cheerfully provided.

Cons

Often felt like 'a body in a position' that my concerns werent being heard, or problems properly addressed - a disconnect between what is actually happening, and what management thinks should be happening.
