Pros

Lots of change and energy as we refocus on the open source community and embrace new technology. Going back to our roots to have a bigger impact on the IT industry. Distributed company that does with not have a glass ceiling for remote employees. Great brand name recognition in the industry and customers who want to see us succeed.

Cons

Still working to overcome some past missteps.

Pros

Please avoid DataStax. Exec leadership has asked us to submit 5* reviews to drown out the detractors, so here’s a 5 star review they can hang their hat on. Please read this review and doubt the positive reviews. Take the 1 and 2 star reviews (filter/sort by lowest rating) very very seriously. I wish I had thought better.

Cons

Things I wish someone told me before joining: Do not bet precious years of your career that you’ll be able to overcome the toxic culture through a heads down, hard work approach. I thought I could. I believed there were values. I believed there were opportunities to make an impact and make things better. In hindsight I was too naive and wanted to bet on myself. Working here you will be exposed to every sort of underhanded, toxic management technique. You will make no money due to predatory comp plans. You will not build lasting customer relationships due to inept sales management constantly trying to save the quarter on the backs of a lonely 1-2 deals a quarter. The stock options are worthless here and there is no option to liquidate anything that you’ve vested. I really cannot stress enough that you can find something far far better for your mental well-being and career progression than a job at DataStax. Take the 1-star reviews seriously and avoid this toxic wasteland.
