Pros
- An exciting, proven, industry changing concept - super fast manufacturing of custom walls, electrical, cabinets and more using 3d design software and environmentally sustainable methods. Feels awesome to contribute to something no other company can do. - Never just a 9-5 job. Get to solve real problems and see tangible results. Very fulfilling. - Flat structure means you can grow and move within the company depending on your interests and aptitude. - Work with brilliant people who are passionate too. - Great perks - breakfast and lunch, pub nights, flexible hours.
Cons
- Sink or swim. No one cares about you unless you're doing something attention-worthy. No appreciation for the steady hard workers. - Flat structure means the "management" in place have no leadership skills and lack accountability. Don't have a mentality of responsibility, just of keeping their own heads above water. Terrible trickle-down effect, etc. - Hours are flexible, but there is no compensation for overtime, not even lieu time. And there is a lot of overtime. - Benefits aren't competitive with Calgary corporate standards. - Calgary office is open concept but the CEO refuses to expand as staff increases. Literally crammed in elbow-to-elbow. - Lot of people have been there too long. At the beginning they lived and breathed innovation and risk. Now they live and breath we-always-do-it-this-way. This combined with passive aggressive management and no interest in mentoring or developing new hires means turnover of valuable people. - Every exec and director have strong personalities and quirks - no balance. They feed off each other's lack of focus and no initiatives of substance get implemented in a profitable way. COO is the exception - very smart but brash management style. - I'd only recommend DIRTT to people who are ambitious and thick-skinned. It needs serious steering before it gets back on course.
