Pros

A lot of bright people, but they are getting wasted in the very bad work environment.

Cons

Management sucks. You won't believe until you actually have to work with one. I am hoping people don't do the same mistake that I did. I read a lot of reviews about Cymer when I got their offer. A lot of bad reviews about managers. I didn't believe. Now here I am. Regretting ever working at Cymer. It is the worst place you can ever work. If you have other options, do not come to Cymer. All young managers (late 20 to early 30), inexperienced. As they can not fix the problems and they are worried about their own jobs, they scarify people under them. If you want a seasonal job come to Cymer. I see a lot of people getting terminated lately with no good reason. Bright people, but you go to work every day and see another one disappeared all of a sudden. Why? Where do they go? Managers started chopping up people already for their longer lasting job. Cymer is good for internship, but worst for basing your life on. I am looking to move ASAP before they put me through what my friends had to go through.

Pros

The pay and benefits are good but don't make up for everything else. Working here could ruin your career.

Cons

If you report ethics violations your boss will know you did before you're back at your desk. Managment tells everyone that retaliation isn't tolerated. That's not true. Your boss will know and can do anything to you without repercussions. HR will not help you and will tell you you brought in on yourself. Jim Koonmen is better than Ed Brown in some ways and worse in other ways.

Cymer Response

Hi - My name is Chantal Beaumont and I am the ASML/Cymer corporate ethics officer. It troubles me to read this post, because you clearly believe that the company has not lived up to its own standards in how it handled your concern. I want to stress that ASML and Cymer take any potential ethics violation very seriously, and indeed retaliation is never acceptable. Ensuring the anonymity of those reporting potential ethics issues is a top priority for ASML. To that end, we make use of an external platform where people can leave a message about potential issues. This system guarantees anonymity and does not make it possible for me or anyone else at ASML to track who left a message. I would appreciate it if you gave me the opportunity to look into your specific issue further.

Pros

The intelligence and energy of the people make this company a very special place. There is a strong work ethic and desire to do the right thing.

Cons

This company is being led by one person, the President and COO who insists on approving everything including simple briefings. If you are willing to be a puppet and let him pull your strings then you will be greatly successful as a leader at Cymer. If you have a mind of your own or any expertise at all he feels threatened and attacks by sabotaging your ability to be successful. When I first joined the organization, I was excited by the vision and the opportunities. That is until my first meeting with the President who let me know clearly that he did not care about my background, experience or opinions. He simply wanted me to do what he told me to do and would not approve anything else.
