Extremely poor leadership

Pros

The benefits are very good. An extremely strong balance sheet provides stability. Some very good front line employees.

Cons

As long as you are the CEO's buddy and especially if you work in underwriting then you're golden - even if you are not very good at your job. Most of the executive and senior management team members are not leaders and are not capable of successfully moving the company into the future. Politics and posturing is all they can do.....in addition to drinking a lot. Several talented people have left or been forced out of this company in the past few years.

Save yourself the time and the headaches

Pros

Good benefits and company socials.

Cons

If you want to go back to High School and deal with trivial B.S. then this is the place for you. Want to be stuck in the same position for years with zero opportunities to grow? this is for you. I worked for an old man, who was indecisive, ignorant and who lacked managerial courage.

No room for growth

Pros

The benefits are good and the office location is convenient. The end of year bonus is bigger than most other companies and PTO is not bad.

Cons

There is no room for growth internally. Literally none unless someone dies. Management does its best to squeeze employees for everything all the time. You will be given a monumental workload that makes you want to quit. In fact many people did quit while I was there because the workload is unbearable. Management is constantly working against you to make sure they don't have to promote you. Senior management does not care at all about the employees. Arbitrary rules such as no working from home make no sense. It literally took a pandemic to allow it. Also it is very much divided into high school social cliques. If you don't fit in then they will try and bully you.
