Pros

Free drinks (if you have enough staff on to give you time to drink it, usually not)

Cons

-Poor Area Management -Expected to work over contracted hours without extra pay -CEO voted to keep minimum wage low - Costa starting to fail due to fresher, better indy coffee shops. The failing is seen as the staff's fault - Atrocious pay at all levels - Expected to pick up extra shifts and looked down on if you refuse - Unrealistic targets to hit at management level - Bonuses taken away for trivial things - female managers actively kept down so higher ups won't have to pay maternity pay as 'all women get pregnant ' (heard from costa executive) Costa are out to save money and increase profits, they employ cheap and don't care if staff are unhappy or leave. Money driven not employee driven.

Pros

Decent pay Free coffee on shift

Cons

Manager is TERRIBLE OBSESSED with bonuses, couldn't care less about morale, no Xmas night out, no training, I worked for Costa when whitbread owned it for 2 years and I LOVED costa, was so obsessed with training, in 2 years we had 1 person leave it was an amazing community. Opportunity to buy shares etc now since coca cola own it, cut the staff waaaayyy back, managers have massive egos obsessed with their bosses all brown nosing and absolutely the blind leading the blind. Couldn't care less about staff. Training went down the toilet. 1 person to serve over 300 people in 4 hours, they couldn't care less, all about the money. Worst company I've worked for since coca cola took over. Best company I worked for by far when it was whitbread. Worst company ever Don't work here You will lose your sanity, freedom and manager will change your hours on the computer because of MASSIVE understaffed and give 0 support and hire no one all for their bonuses WHICH WAS ENOUGH FOR SOMEONE TO PAY FOR THEIR WEDDING.

Pros

Free drinks on shift, that's about it really, job started off well then went to crap really quickly which is a shame

Cons

Long hours on your feet, rude customers, not allowed to say your side of the story on accusations, management openly makes fun of an Asian employees accent behind their back, staff openly transphobic, manager happily talks about how she made a previous employee cry. Manager openly talks about making work difficult for people she wants out of the store. Asked to do a lot of things at once and if they all aren't done immediately you'll get criticised for it. Been working here for just under 3 months and my back hasn't stopped hurting since my first shift. Some days I'm scheduled to work for only 4 hrs, but since the store is understaffed, I get asked to work longer but I'm not allowed to get a break. You say which days you can't work due to long standing personal commitments and management ignores that and schedules you in for those days anyway. Manager doesn't train the new starters but leaves that to the barista maestro then complains training isn't up to her standards or she'll tell you how to do something but when you do that task the correct way when it's busy you get told off for wasting time, going to hand in my notice at the end of the month
