Pros

- There are some very clever individuals who work at Convex - Some nice people - Annual summer party is quite fun

Cons

Where do I start? This has got to be the worst company I have worked for, and they are very dishonest about how they do things. They do not stick to their own values at all. They promote the job as hybrid working, but then publicly discriminate on those who do not come into the office 5 days a week. I witnessed bullying in multiple teams and, although HR are aware of these individuals, they facilitate with them to get away with it and brush it under the carpet. There are also lots of people who do not understand the insurance industry that Convex operates in and just seem to ‘wing’ it. This is the only organisation I have come across where bad behaviour is actively encouraged, celebrated and rewarded. They say to potential employees that it’s a small knit family, however this is just a ruse to get you to accept before you really see what they are like. They also have zero diversity amongst their leadership team.

Pros

Nice offices, good benefits although holiday difficult as too busy.

Cons

- No monitors on desks is an absolutely ridiculous policy hampers productivity. - Leadership cult like and aloof traveling to far flung luxury locations rather than focusing on team. Use of private jets does not align with ESG goals. - Marketing spin is just spin. Flashy offices also dont matter - it’s the people in them that matter m. - leadership team came from failed XL employees who hanker for the Catlin good old days but the world has (thankfully) moved on. Also some likely nepotistic old boys club hires at the most senior of levels.

Pros

Beautiful offices. Lovely catering, events etc etc. Was there for approx 3 years so valid opinion as follows.

Cons

I was very honoured to be employed by Convex to start as they looked and sounded like a brilliant company. Lovely kind people (to a degree). I survived as long as I served them a purpose (3 years). Then they started hiring more and more people and all of a sudden I came to realise I no longer mattered anymore. I felt completely sad and disheartened as I had worked my behind off to help get them set up as a start up company. I supported a lot of the senior leadership team and not one of them said thank you for all my hard work. Not that I expect thanks. They lured me in with a very high salary then dropped my salary instead of promoting me after 3 years of working there. Disheartening to say the least. I was passed around like a bucket from manager to manager, constantly asked to look after new people time and time again when in my line of work it was important to stick with one or two bosses as you learn how they work (it is not protocol to leave a boss and start with a new one as you lose know-how). Then after 3 years of giving them a brilliant service they terminated me without warning. All because I expressed my views privately to management about why I was upset. They were planning, deceptive, scrupulous, cruel, unkind, verging on abusive towards me at the end of my term there. So disappointing as it made me realise they had just been using me to get set up then once I didn't fit the bill for them anymore as I was frustrated at lack of promotion they then immediately cut ties. I have never been so poorly treated in any company and still 3 years later the treatment is so bitter within me I decided to write this review so long afterwards. It's now many years since I last worked at Convex. The treatment traumatised me SO MUCH I suffered ptsd and was unable to get employment thereafter as my confidence was knocked, and as a result I became homeless. It has taken me 3 years to build my confidence back up. When I was telling my manager I was burning out due to being over worked she tried to get me diagnosed as mentally unstable and not fit for work for no reason whatsoever (WHICH WAS COMPLETELY FALSE)! I am now in an amazing position running my OWN business so nothing wrong with me! They tried to pull all sorts of funny games on me. Shallow fake relationships, underwriters thinking they are better than you, snobby. They recruit outsiders just to stab you in the back and get them to replace you. All smoke and mirrors, claim to have cultural substance but actually don't have any. If you are an intelligent person and a hard worker who wants their work to be at least recognised DONT work for Convex. Also works you to a pulp and no work life balance. Convex has taught me never again to go over and beyond for a corporation, as they just don't care about you in the end. Good riddance.
