Pros

Unfortunately there aren't very many good reasons to work for this company except for the benefits. The fellow drivers most of the time are good to work with and the equipment is usually in good condition.

Cons

Unfortunately the management likes to micromanage every little move that you make it even if you fall the SOP you are usually wrong because that is not what the manager wants. The manager always wants it done his way even if it's the wrong way and even if the SOP says otherwise. No matter how bad the customer is according to management they are always right and should have their posterior kissed to make them happy. You are always called in for meetings even though you have done the right way and follow the SOP to the letter. You work split shifts for the 1st 3 or 4 years until you build up enough seniority and if you do not have enough time for a break at the end of your run it's too bad. I got terminated there because I told the nonpaying customer what might happen if he gets caught by our transit police for not paying a fare. He got upset that I told him he might get $124 to get you through I let him is one free, he still got upset and called in and complained and my manager had me terminated though I had 20 years of service. So if you like to have somebody always looking over your shoulder and this is a good place to work. But if you like to use your own brains and your own judgment then definitely keep on looking for a different job.

Pros

Company benefits and wages Fellow drivers.

Cons

Management makes the rules that the even they cannot follow. The change to rules whenever it benefits management's job and not the employees working conditions. No matter what you do or how you do it you are wrong even if you try to follow the SOP to the letter.

Pros

Many people are very kind. Good, salt of the earth folks working as individual contributors that you would be fortunate to count as friends.

Cons

Zero leadership. Most managers have no professional training and this is their only job (haven’t worked anywhere else). Culture is obsessed with micromanaging and “preventative” and punitive processes. The managers focus on the exact opposite of what is important. Managers obsess over who was 5 minutes late (in professional, salaried positions, not hourly mind you). Back room deals make or break people’s careers. Policies are inconsistently enforced. They will say whatever you want to hear as you are coming in the door but at the first sign of challenge or push back you are on your own and the daggers come out. Very unhealthy and in my opinion low integrity leadership based on watching at least three talented high performing people choose to leave or be fired without cause who experience harassment, bullying and stress. The most common refrain is, “That is how we have always done it.” Not kidding, you will regret choosing to work at Community Transit. Just don’t.
