Pros

This company pays wages on time.

Cons

High teacher turnover. Overcrowded classrooms. The ratio of students to teacher is too high. Working conditions for teachers are below average. No staff lunchroom. Cost-cutting measures were at the time getting rid of the receptionist. Therefore teachers needed to interrupt lessons to attend to the front door to let in late arriving students. The focus of CP was money, money, money and ticking policy boxes for the government. Student education was neglected through overcrowded classrooms and a lack of teaching resources. There were other corrupt activities going on at CP and one wonders when they will be investigated again.

Pros

Good colleagues and lovely teachers. Amazing staff diversity. Not many other pros.

Cons

Too much paperwork. There's an immense amount of paperwork to be completed for each unit, and often students are unable to complete the tasks or don't attend classes. So, you're chasing students for assessments and paperwork every lesson. Too much actual paper - these people are responsible for thousands of trees being cut due to the amount of paper they use on a daily basis. Not organised at all. Teachers call in sick and you have to look after two classes at the same time. You're asked to deliver the program you're teaching, plus other programs like ACFE, at the same time (meaning students study two programs within the time allocated for only one). Students are not really interested in studying. They only go there because they get benefits and paid to attend. The lessons start later than the designated start time, and finish at least an hour early. Lunch breaks are extended too. Thus significantly reducing class time. Bad management. There was too much politics going on. There were disagreements between admin and teachers because the managers of the departments couldn't stand each other (it was very noticeable, at least at the time). Program managers badmouthed each other behind the others' backs. The general manager played favouites with the other managers, encouraging their behaviour. It was a very, very difficult environment to work at. My manager also assigned tasks to me via other staff, without talking to me directly. Not that I had a problem with that - but how difficult was it to send an email, or give me a quick call!? When I applied, ad said hybrid working arrangements. When I started, I was told I had to request (and be given approval) to work remotely every time.
