Pros
Decent pay, decent benefits, if you get on a good team, it can be really fun to be around coworkers. The training is amazing. I walked in the door knowing nothing about insurance and I left with a PA life license which they paid for, free education on insurance, and an awesome addition to my resume. Good for a while to help you get the licensure and experience you need to find a permanent career elsewhere.
Cons
They say it's not cold calling, but let's be honest... The majority of the customers are NOT expecting to be called. Literally you will be making calls all day and all night and that's all they really care about. They are obsessed with calling customers. They even have this evil device called "the dialer" where it is automatic back to back calling...no breaks to even breathe between calls. Quality Assistance needs quality assistance. You can cover all bases and they will grade you based on how they would have said it. "I know you covered this, but I would have put it like this, so I'm gonna mark you down." Atmosphere is "high schoolish". Keep your business to yourself or everyone will know about it. The job really gets to you after a while. You're a robot and you can say the script in your sleep after a few weeks.
