Pros

Great opportunity to learn how NOT to treat employees.

Cons

Ask why Project Director turnover is over 100% and they can't retain any...here are some hints: Required to work 65-70 hours/week, get paid for 40-45. And you are forced to travel on holidays too. Everything is about billing hours, even if the customer doesn't need something (like the BMT, which is worthless), you are required to make them build one, even when you know it's not needed. If you don't kiss up to your corporate bosses and do everything they say, you get sidelined for weeks on end (they cutely call it "on the beach"). Project Directors are considered a commodity, not valued. and 100% replaceable. Run a $250,000 project solo - no problem. Submit an expense report with no receipt for a toll for $2 - we don't trust you, not paying it. I could go on, but you get the picture. Completely Toxic environment.

Pros

Worked with some nice colleagues and clients. Despite all odds was able to make a difference to clients.

Cons

Cogent will absolutely burn you out while continually dangling a carrot of bonuses and promotions that never materialize. They expect you to work 60 hours a week to produce 35-40 hours a week of billable time, but do not give you the tools or support to complete the work. You have to develop those yourself all the while trying to figure out for what you have been paid. Very out of touch, controlling management /ownership that leads out of fear, intimidation, and retaliation - not to mention literally yelling at employees, vendors and clients while leaving his door open for everyone to hear. If you enjoy collaboration, transparency, support, a work-life balance, being awarded for and celebrating success - you do not need to work here.
