Pros

The ability to working from home.

Cons

-The dreaded in office meetings; the franchisees would simply take the air out of the room. As a new employee it was very telling, I should have seen it as a warning. -Lack of respect for Design (Sales) Consultants. -A severe lack of training on the day-to-day expectations of back office functions. - Demands on your time that are usually accompanied by a salary. This is a 100% commission position.

Sorry, it wasn't a fit, and we are updating the online sales training. We do train how to design by hand because once someone understands it, they can easily change to cad.

Pros

Flexible hours since you can schedule and reschedule your own appointments. Quality of products are very good. Installers do a very good job. You are given leads. Good job for a part timer or retiree.

Cons

You are treated like a subcontractor although you are an employee. You have to supply your own phone, laptop and everything else needed to be a designer. You are given a compensation schedule, then heavily encouraged to discount so that you can never reach the top commission level, which is not high to begin with. You are not given anything for gas/car allowance or your time. You need to see every customer at least twice so that is your time and gas you are laying out for someone else's business. You are lied to by management until you accept the job and find out the truth about everything. You are not paid until the vendor pays the company even though you have done the work and the job was installed. This could be months later. The company does not think it should bear the cost of doing business and instead passes that burden on to the employee.

New Ownership-***BEWARE***

Pros

Flexibility, autonomy, well compensated when you can sell

Cons

I worked there for 14 years under one set of owners, then ownership changed in 2021. The business went into freefall. Costco dropped us as a vendor, prices went up, delivery to clients went poorly. I had to leave to protect my clients and to protect my own reputation. There are a dozen employees that I am aware of that have money owed to them in significant amounts. The ones who are currently there are being paid on the backs of those who have left. There are 2 labor department settlements against the current owner for money owed, and he has indicated he will never pay.
