Fun industry, poor environment
Pros
Great industry to be in - exciting, surrounded by wonderful creativity and beautiful furniture and accessories. Decent salary and benefits. Standard office hours, vacation, and they will provide office workers with most tools needed to be successful in their positions if they choose to use them.
Cons
Extremely high-stress environment. No opportunity for advancement. Will move long-time employees across the country to open new locations and lay them off less than a year later in favor of hiring lower-salaried, inexperienced candidates. Favoritism is very high, and is far more valued than skill, ability, or work ethic. The Pareto Principle rules here, with 20% of the employees taking care of 80% of the work. Company politics are atrocious. Management very high-strung and holds no accountability.
