We're sorry you feel that way! You are correct that our teaching assignments are paid per class, and most classes are an hour long. Because our programs are primarily offered after school, typically it's only possible to teach one class per day, and this position is very part-time - we wish we were able to offer our instructors more classes! During the scheduling process we try to match instructors with classes at schools that are closer to where they live, but this is not always an option. Including setup and cleanup, the average time commitment for a teaching assignment is between 1.25 and 1.5 hours, not including the commute to get to the school. Because of this, we offer a higher per-class rate of ~$50-$70 (depending on experience). We do offer reimbursement for travel times if an instructor accepts a class with a longer commute. Our instructors have the option of turning down offered assignments that are too far or don't work for their schedules. We recognize that the nature of the job schedule is unconventional, so we are careful to explain how things work during our interview, onboarding and training processes. For many of our instructors, this flexibility and limited time commitment is a big plus, allowing them to both teach with us and continue with regular engagements like college courses and another job.
Students, schools and parents are our customers. If they share negative feedback about one of our classes, we investigate the problem, and work together with our instructors as a team on finding a solution.
