Pros

Great coworkers, mostly. Fast paced, challenging, always putting out fires, which I like.

Cons

Deliberate sabotage of work effort by unqualified, threatened coworkers who are in positions of management that absolutely should not be, but for the fact they are Hungarian and also probably hold dirt on the CEO, who they clearly have the in their back pockets. This leaves all who are not Hungarian at a disadvantage. It’s total discrimination. The parties that the company throws, while okay, don’t mean one single thing in the larger scheme of the daily BS life in the office and do absolutely nothing to dissipate the constant dissension that hangs heavily in the air. The CEO and his ex, the CSO, have a love/hate contentious relationship going on that is incredibly detrimental to the entire organization. They both have serious superiority complexes and need to recognize this and be human.

Pros

There was a lot of vacation time, 3 weeks, and sick time, 2 weeks. Standard hours 9-5, sometimes there were fun people to work with/around. They through a lot of parties which would be fun, but every just gets super drunk and it's awkward. Literally just a place to build some lab experience if you're lacking.

Cons

Terrible management, very toxic culture. Good workers are not rewarded, in fact they won't even pay to keep good workers around. They'll let them freely walk out the door and won't fight for them because "everybody is replaceable". Huge turnover of staff, they blame it on hiring younger people but this is just their excuse to rationalize treating their employees poorly. Management is so out of touch with what goes on in the labs that they have no idea who is doing what and who the good workers are. They think their benefits are so great, but honestly they're average at best.

Pros

Pros include a good work/life balance, an ability to get overtime (if interested) and a sometimes fun working environment. From my experience, if you are motivated to work hard, management will definitely take notice and help you progress.

Cons

From my time there, I had a lot of negative experiences at CTL. First, management had a difficult time recognizing those who worked and those who majorly slacked off. There was a common theme that "good" workers who got the job done, consistently had to pick up the slack of those who did not seem to care. Second, a lot of inexperienced grads get hired right out of college (not a bad thing); however, don't get adequately trained to work in the lab. This created a plethora of issues. Lastly, one of the worst experiences was my interaction with the lab manager. She had a tendency to create unnecessary tension with those who questioned her management style. I once asked for help and was berated by her to the point where I felt the need to raise my voice, in defense. Yikes.
