Pros

The location and office space are good. Free drinks. Sometimes when one of the developers has a birthday there will be some free sweets.

Cons

Compensation is awful, at least for us below management. Expect to work long hours with very little recognition (OT pay if youre hourly). The company has adopted a "the customer is always right" mentality over the last 6-9 months that has completely changed the mood of everyone there to very unhappy. If you try to have fun, people look at you like you are not working enough or are wasting company time. There is no upward growth because there is no new kinds of work, just the same demanding clients over and over that no other agencies wanted to work with. Talking to the client is becoming more and more difficult. Your suggestions on how to improve work will be met by suspicion from your managers at best to outright refusal at worst if its something that effects the client. They are not looking for solutions. You do not matter, you are just a resource.

Pros

The building is cool - it's an old church. So you get stained glass, interesting rooms, nice natural light, the phone rooms are confessionals. As other people said there's free soda. That's a nice plus. The hours are kind of casual so you don't have to be at your desk at 9 sharp. Sometimes in the summer there are barbecues. There is a Christmas party but it's BYOB. Actually most of the "morale building" activities are paid for by the employees, but at least we have them. Sometimes people bring in bagels.

Cons

None of the management here wants to admit to the seriously deep problems. Everyone is unhappy with the work. Everyone is unhappy with the pay. Everyone is unhappy with the atmosphere. But the owners just get more angry about it and don't change a thing. What does it mean when a company has one glowing five star review that is so obviously written by a manager when everyone else is telling it like it really is? All you have to do is look at the turnover. People quit Catalysis. A lot. Why would they do that if everyone liked it here? Employees are treated like stupid children and paid like migrant workers. That actually makes sense because the job is a mindless grind where the employees count for nothing. It is uncomfortable here all the time. If you don't get yelled at you get overworked. If you don't die of boredom you're not paying attention. Nobody here cares about you - they care about making money. That's what companies do, but at least pretending to appreciate us would be great.
