Not a good place to work

Pros

If you enjoy working with vulnerable people and helping them

Cons

Male manager of all female team sends inappropriate messages at late hours of the night to the young, new female staff. Staff are constantly off sick due to being overworked and taken advantage of, leaving you on shift and short staffed - sometimes 1 support staff to 3 people who need support. They will pay double your rate to hire extra staff from an agency to cover absences, but never incentivise their own staff. No career opportunities whatsoever. Most staff had or developed mental health issues as a result of working here.

Pros

Pay in line with other support services. Decent holiday entitlement.

Cons

Very poor management. Little notice of rota. Constantly contacting you on days off and pressure to cover extra shifts/change shifts with hours notice. Large staff turnover. Managers take no responsibility for low staff morale. Managers always looking to blame staff for everything. Not supportive of staff at all.

Cons

If you are not white scottish you will be targeted if the manager doesn't like you your time will be limited there. The managers 100% abuse the power they have.

Depressing managerial culture

Pros

Supporting people to find ways to flourish

Cons

An insular and defensive managerial culture that are more interested in dominating the social care landscape in Scotland than providing good care. The managers become defensive and feel threatened when provided with a modicum of feedback. Such a symptom of oppressive hierarchical practice create a depressing working environment, devoid of the necessary innovation required to ethically manage a social care organisation.
