Leadership. I've never worked with such unqualified and terrible managers before (on every level). They don't care about your development, they don't care about your ideas, but as long as you idolize everything they say, never speak your mind, and comment on how cute their kids or appearance are frequently, you'll get promoted. Favoritism runs rampant here.
Quality of work is a joke. Most supervisors can barely do planner level work and 90% of projects are done with an enormous amount of errors. Most AD's to SVP's are on power trips and don't even pay attention to the work the team is putting out until something makes them look bad and they'll quickly deflect blame to the easiest target. Carat loves to talk up "innovation" yet continually struggles to put strategic and tactical plans together on even the most basic level.
Do make sure you live and breathe work. Don't even think about leaving before 6:30 and make sure that when your email goes off at 11pm you answer it. Literally had a manager say to the team one time when someone had Friday dinner plans, "It's best to not make plans after work during the week."
Most alarming in my experience was how disrespectful of clients leadership was. From petty comments about simple requests to flat out lying due to incompetency. Zero integrity.
All in all, Carat has the worst reputation in the industry so stay away. I'm truly embarrassed to say I ever worked here.
